Did you know that having a professional email signature can make you money?
In this post I’ll be showing you what I have found to be the best email signature design that if done correctly can make you money.
It’s actually a simple strategy that I’m surprised most marketers aren’t implementing in their follow up email messages to their list of subscribers and most are missing the boat!
Question: How can you know and how do I know that having a formal email signature makes me money?
Answer: I use a piece of online software that tracks the process, which I’ll talk more about below…
What is a Professional Email Signature?
Most often, when most people think of the term “signature” they automatically think, “signing my name.” Yes, having your name is a BIG part of your professional email signature, but it’s a small part in the bigger picture.
I like to include the following elements in my personal email signature design:
- Ending Salutation
- Relevant Profile Picture
- First and Last Name
- Custom Domain Name Email Address
- Short Motivational/Inspirational Quote
- P.S. Promo Line
- Social Media Follow or Share Options
Let’s review each of these elements in more detail:
Ending Salutation:
The ending salutation is just my way to wrap up and end each email I send out. It’s short, simple and to the point. For example, “Make it a great day!” or “Never give up on your dreams!”
I usually keep it consisten with the same phrase on each email, but every once in a while change it up.
Relevant Profile Picture:
It’s always good to put a face to the name for people receiving your emails. It goes a long way to build rapport and get your audience to know, like and trust you. This profile picture should be somewhat “photogenic” of you smiling.
Sometimes my profile picture would be of me and the lifestyle I’m living as well – like sitting on the beach drinking a piƱa colada.
First and Last Name:
This is self-explanatory that doesn’t require much attention, but it is important to note to include your REAL first and last name at the end of your emails and “sign it.” Using a fake could come back and hurt you later.
Custom Domain Name Email Address:
If you are doing any type of business online you should have a custom domain name (i.e. website address) and a professional custom email address to go along with it. For example, you are reading this post on my domain name: howtowithevan.com and my custom email address is: evan@howtowithevan.com.
If you don’t yet have a custom domain name and email address, get one here for only a buck. That price includes a free email address and private registration, which keeps your personal information private and not public domain.
Short Motivational Inspirational Quote:
I just recently started including this when I create professional email signatures. Don’t know if it actually does anyone anything but myself, but think it’s a nice touch. One of my favorite quotes I use is by Jim Rohn: “For things to change, YOU need to change.”
P.S. Promo Line
This is how and where you can make money with your professional email signature… the P.S. line!
Let me ask you this, what’s the first thing that you do when you open an email? If you’re like me, I do a quick scan of the email from top to bottom to see if it’s even worth my time to read…
…when you have a P.S. line at the bottom that formatted to stand out (i.e. larger text size, bold, etc.) you’ll get 100% of your email openers reading what you have to say in the P.S. line. If it captures their attention enough to click, you’ll see a lot of commissions come from here.
In my business, I can actually track most of my sales from emails that I send come from the P.S. line in my emails. Knowing that, it would be crazy not to include this in each and every one of my emails.
Curious? This is what I use to track everything in my business. There’s 14-day free trial if you want to give it a test drive.
Social Media Follow or Share Options:
Most email marketing platforms like the one I use has the option to include social media follow or share options in your emails. It’s a great way for your audience to connect with you on select social media networks like Facebook or to encourage them to share the email that they received from you.
When they connect with you on social media, it is an additional outlet for them to be exposed to your content, life and further build your brand. When they share it, it’s free advertising! Nothing wrong with that.

Below are a few different professional email signature examples I personall have used in emails I’ve sent out to my audience:
In Conclusion…
Hopefully the information presented here inspires you to craft your own professional email signature that you can include at the bottom of your outgoning emails to your subscribers. It’s a great way for brand recognition, building rapport, promoting an offer and getting people to know, like and trust you!
